Japanese Fabrics

Aika sells fabrics mostly from Emma Creation Arts & Crafts in CA, the exclusive importer of Olympus Thread Mfg in Japan.
Why is that? Because of its quality.

All the imported fabrics, either solid, yearn-dyed or printed, are suitable for sashiko stitching as they are flat-woven cottons. What does this mean?

  • All fabrics are woven with 100% natural cotton
  • The dyes are not natural, but in order to avoid color-fluxing and make color
sustainability increased, the color fixation process is adopted after the printing
process. This is a special and costly process. Therefore, while it might make the cost
of fabrics higher, it also gives it a much higher quality.

I have a confidence that Olympus fabrics are suitable not only for quilting but also for apparel.

Manufactured totally in Japan, the entire process, from weaving through printing, is performed under strict quality control.

Currently I carry the traditional sashiko colors. Fat fuaters and Pre-cut fabric is also available which you can use to make some great and exciting quilt designs.
